Secretaries Notes

The final show of the year, the Adult Stock Show, will soon be upon us, held at last years venue, the Wykey Community Centre at Coventry on the weekend of 23rd/24th November 2019. The entire organisation for the event is now complete with special rates for the Friday and Saturday night at the Holiday Inn Coventry, at £144 for a double/twin room for the two nights bed and breakfast, which also includes a two course evening meal on the Saturday Night.
The canteen over the weekend will again be organised by Ian and Mel Kirkland although any offer of help in this department would be more than welcome as would any pastries, cakes etc, as the entire weekend is being run for the NERC, with all profits going towards club funds. There will also be the usual raffles on both days at the show so any prizes would be more the welcome.
Glassware will again be on offer to all colour cup winners and best in show. Tankards for all elected judges. The Gold Shield and Gold Medal will be awarded to the best in show. In the u/5 support show pennants will be awarded to all five colour cup winners. Mr K. Germany has very kindly offered £25 for Best In Show and Mr Les Davis 35 for each colour cup winner and Mr Keith Last 310 for best junior in the Adult Stock show. It is still not too late to make a donation or special towards the show, if you wish to do so. Please give me a ring and tell me what you want to do.
Overnight penning will again be available on the Friday night of the show and anyone willing to help should arrive early on the Friday afternoon, as many hands make light work. A reminder to all 2018 Adult stock show winners to return your trophies to our cup steward Steve Shacklock, as they are still your responsibility until you receive your cup card. If you are unable to attend please arrange for someone to bring them for you, as there is nothing worse than winning a cup to find out it hasn’t been returned. Your elected judges are P. Shaw bucks and E. Burton does. The u/5 support show judge is J. Fletcher.
Another of the ever popular Sale of the Stars is again being organised by Steve Germany and Gary Lees, once again giving fanciers the chance to obtain top quality stock from some of the top studs in the English fancy. I understand some quality stock has already been obtained and it is still not too late to donate any quality stock you have available, by contacting either Steve or Gary. Cash bids will be taken on all the stock prior to this if you are unable to attend, by contacting our auctioneer on 01939-270311. A full list will appear in Spotlight and Fur and Feather.
The second leg of the Spotlight area team competition will take place on the Sunday morning of the show. All rabbits must be adults to be eligible. Remember a full team goes a long way to winning the competition. The judge to be selected at the show. The best headed exhibit will follow the same format as previous years and judged on the Sunday morning from exhibits nominated by the Adult stock show judges.
Mr R Wearmouth is Show Secretary for the ASS waiting for your early entries, so keep him busy on 01740=652039. Ring numbers on the day. I will also be taking your subs, Spotlight, sweepstake entries, your year book adverts etc for 2020 over the weekend.
Our year book editor, Stewart Howson, will also be looking for any articles and also your updates on yearbook adverts for 2020 in order to distribute the yearbook by July. Paid up members at the Bradford Championship show. Keith Last will also be looking for any articles for the Spotlight magazine.
John Kay is again Show manager for the Adult stock show. Richard Took has once again donated one of his super made travel boxes to be raffled over the weekend and Christine Shaw has donated a litre bottle of Pink Gin, to be raffled by a football card on the Saturday morning while you are penning your exhibits. She says time we had a bottle for the ladies instead of the usual whiskey draw.
I look forward to seeing you all at the show over the weekend.

Phil Shaw
