Secretaries Notes

Well the Young Stock Show at Thirsk is now well and truly behind us and what a remarkable weekend it turned out to be for Richard Took and his Chocolate Doe, being awarded the coveted Gold Cup for BIS.

The other colour cups all going to the Lees family. Gary (Firshill Stud) with the Black & Grey, his wife Janet (Sandybeck Stud) the Tort and his dad (Kitwood Stud) the Blue. Bailey Hirstle was Best Junior with his Chocolate Doe.

Due to the efforst of everyone involved, the club made a profit of £276 on the Young Stock Show. Sunday saw the fastest club AGM I have ever witnessed, five minutes, so everyone must be well satisfied and happy.

Membership at present stands at 129. Sadly as the trend seems to be around 10 down on the same time last year, with Spotlight subscribers and breeders sweepstake entries totalling 83 and 66 respectively.

I know it may seem a while away but 2022 will see the club hold a special adult stock show in conjunction with Bradford Small Livestock Society at Doncaster racecourse, to celebrate their 100 year anniversary. This is aswell as our young and adult stock shows.
The next main event in our calendar will be the Adult stock show at Coventry, a new venue for us, on November 17/18th. The judges will be: Bucks - Mr R. Chappell and Does - Mr S. Howson. Mr K. Brownsword will be judging the u/5 support show. Roy Wearmouth will again be the show secretary. Special rates have been arranged at The Holiday Inn (view here). Mr J. Kay will again be organising the Saturday evening entertainment.

The 2018 sale of the stars will take place on Sunday 18th November 2018, organised once aagainn by the dynamic duo of Steve Germany and Gary Lees, ably assisted by our resident auctioneer Bob Chappell. Around 20 exhibits will be on view for you to peruse on the Sunday morning. A full list of donors and exhibits will be published nearer the time through Spotlight, Fur & Feather and the website. All stock sold will be vaccinated against vhd2 before leaving the show on the Sunday at no extra cost to the purchaser.

So as Steve & Gary say "get saving" and look out for the full list of stock to appear around October.

Don't forget it is £5 to advertise within the breeders directory

Finally a reminder that all nominations for the clubs annual ballot, close on Saturday 8th September 2018
