Secretaries Notes

The young stock show at Kegworth is now behind us and again was well attended by fanciers and friends alike. Many thanks to all who helped in any way over the two days, in particular to our President Mrs Janet Howson, Mrs Janet Lees and Mrs Sharon Took, who did an excellent task in running the canteen over the weekend at such short notice. A special mention goes to Mrs Janet Canell for all her efforts in running the clubs raffles over the two days and to Richard Took on his debut as a show manager. The result being a profit on the show of almost £300.
Congratulations to all trophy winners at the show and a big thank you to all who donated specials, supplied the rosettes and brought along raffle prizes.
Birthday boy Russell Fenn won the Gold cup with his black buck and the colour cup winners being, Kevin Young the Blue, Sandyback Stud(Mrs Janet Lees) the Tort, Stewart and Janet Howson the Grey and Kevin Germany the Chocolate cup. In the adult support show best in show went to Kevin Youngs Blue. Glassware was again presented to all colour cup winners in the young stock show and for the first time pennants to all colour cup winners in the adult support show.
The A.G.M. on the Sunday was again well attended by the membership and was again over in a very short time. The secretary reported an income over expenditure of £57.77 for the financial year of 2018, helped mainly by the Sale of the Stars and the Bonus Ball. On a positive note, we have 8 more members at the present time than we did at the same time last year.
Once again the time is fast approaching for the clubs annual ballot and I would like once again to remind all club judges the rule regarding nomination to judge a National stock show. The full chart appears annually in the clubs year book and it is up to each judge to nominate within the specific time allowed. No reminders will bbe sent out.Nominations are required for all positions within the club, so please give the matter some serious thought and let’s have those nominations to make the ballot worthwhile.
Again the Ribbon of Merit receives very little support and remember the winner and runner up each receive and engraved tankard at the clubs young stock show. The full list for automatic show support (Ribbons of Merit), appear in the clubs year book annually. Please check your awards and apply.
The next important event on the calendar is the Adult stock show at Coventry on November 23/24th 2019 with the usual team at the helm and John Kay organising as usual and I can assure you nothing will be left to chance. Show secretary is Mr Roy Wearmouth ( 01740-652039). Special rates for the two nights have again been arranged at the Holiday Inn, Coventry (02476-5874005) which includes bed and breakfast for two nights and Saturday night dinner. The rates are Double twin at £139 or single room £120. Cancellation of room is 4pm day before arrival, which means everyone can book now to save disappointment but still have plenty of time to cancel if required.
The show judges are Bucks, Mr P.Shaw, Does, Mr E.Burton and the u/5 support show Mr J. Fletcher. Both shows are BRC 3 star shows, with the Gold Shield awarded to Best in Show in the Adult stock show.
The Sale of the Stars again takes place on the Sunday of the Adult stock show, again organised by Mr Steve Germany and Mr Gary Lees, assisted as usual by our resident auctioneer Mr Bob Chappell. The 2019 sale will be another bumper event and again be a chance to purchase top quality stock from some of the top studs in the country, so get saving and look out for the full list in your spotlight, Fur and Feather and also on the website.
