Secretaries Notes

As we near the start of the third month of the year, subscription renewals are coming in at a steady rate. At present the total number of members stands at 105, with still around 30 to renew from last year, 11 of which are club judges. Please renew as soon as possible as if you have not renewed by the end of March you could be classed as a new member as per club rules.

Our 2019 adult stock show at Coventry again proved to be a marvellous weekend for all concerned. Entries exceeded all expectations with 99 adults and 32 under 5mth.Fanciers once again supported our fund raising activities with the usual generosity. Another excellent canteen run by Ian and Mel Kirkland, ably assisted by Janet Lees.

Congratulations to all our cup winners, in particular Hirstle & Dewhirst who won the Gold Shield with their Black doe. I am pleased to say the show showed a profit of £243 and the ever popular Sale of the Stars £740. A big thank you to all who donated stock for the sale and Steve and Gary for organising the sale and Bob our auctioneer, also to everyone who put their hands in their pockets and purchased the top quality stock on offer. All efforts are greatly appreciated.
The annual ballot showed a return of 74 papers from 133 sent out, and our new Vice President for 2020 is Mrs Janet Howson with husband Stewart taking over as President on a 3 year term. The President Salver this year was awarded to Mr Ken Spivey from Bury and presented to Ken at the adult stock show of the North West English R.C. in October.

The first committee of the year will take place in mid March and we welcome onto the committee Marten Carnell, who will take the place of Ian Kirkland, who sadly has had to resign due to work commitments.

The young stock show will soon be upon us and will be the clubs 100th young stock show, being held at Kegworth on 4th\5th July 2020, with Roy Wearmouth judging bucks and Steve Germany does. The adult support show judge is Dave Hemsley. Many specials will be on offer at this show, with more news at a later date. The main hotel will be the Kegworth White House (01509 672427) with special rates, of £66 double/Twin and £56 single, arranged for Friday and Saturday night. A Saturday evening dinner has been organised at £17.50 per person.

The Adult stock show will again be at Coventry on 21st/22nd November 2020. Judging bucks will be Richard Took and does Gary Lees, with Neil Burcumshaw the under 5mths support show.
The Ribbon of Merit is again receiving very poor support, with at present only two studs bothering to claim the awards. Tankards are awarded to the winner and runner up at the clubs young stock show, so check your cards and claim without delay.

Best English at the Bradford Championship show this year was awarded to the Blue of Kevin Young with the Black buck of Russell Fenn best opposite sex.

A few of our members have recently had a spell in hospital of late and we wish them a speedy recovery Club president Stewart Howson, our website manager Malcolm Nicholson and Kevin Germany, who incurred an accident at work when a concrete slab fell on his toes.
The AGM WILL BE HELD ON Sunday 5th

Phil Shaw
