Secretaries Notes

Well, the final show of the year, the Adult stock show, has now been and gone and what a great show it proved to be. Kevin Young made the long trip down from Scotland and went Best in Show with his Blue doe. Well done Kevin. If you were unable to attend the bad news is you missed a great show. The good news is we are doing it all again next year, same venue, same hotel.
The Gold Shield was competed for in Scotland this year and won by Stewart & Janet Howson, with their Grey buck.
Congratulations to Bob Searle on being awarded the clubs President Salver, for all his hard work supporting the English fancy over many years. The presentation took place on the Saturday evening by our President Mrs Janet Howson. Well done Bob, a well deserved recipient of the award.
The Sale of the Stars again proved to be a very good success, organised again by Gary Lees and Steve Germany, not forgetting our auctioneer Bob Chappell. The result was a profit of £805 for the club and a lot of satisfied fanciers with their purchases. Again, thanks to all donors and buyers respectively.
The annual ballot again had a good return, with 90 papers returned from 135 sent out. We have a new Vice President for 2019 in Mr Keith Last and also welcome Russell Fenn onto the committee for 2019. Unfortunately we have lost Mrs Mel Kirkland from the committee and on behalf of the club may I thank Mel for all her input in her time on the committee.
Onto the first show of 2019, the Bradford Championship Show, with Oliver Brasier judging. Best English going to the Chocolate of Kettlewood and Sharp and were awarded the Rose Bowl, with the runner up and best opposite sex, being awarded to Cannell Studs Blue.

Members who attended the show, received their 2019 year book upon payment of their 2019 subscription, there being a slight increase on last year of £8 for full membership and £6 for senior citizens and Juveniles. Spotlight remains the same as previous years at £6 for five issues. When renewing, don’t forget the breeder’s sweepstake competition, still only £1 per colour for every exhibit entered in your chosen colour, at every young stock show.
Your elected committee will be meeting in March for the first meeting of 2019. Any members, who would like anything discussed at this meeting, should submit it in writing, to me, by the 1st March 2019, so that your ideas and opinions can be placed on the agenda. Your input is very much appreciated and important for the successful running of the club.
Moving on to the Stock show for 2019. The Young stock show will be at Kegworth on 6/7th July. Judging bucks, Mr Keith Last and judging Does, Mr John Kay. The Adult support show will be judged by Mr A. Clipsham.
The Adult stock show is at Coventry on 23rd/24th November. Judging bucks, Mr P. Shaw, judging Does Mr E. Burton, with the young support show being judged by Mr J. Fletcher. Both our Stock shows and Support shows for 2019 will be BRC three star shows.
The 2019 year books have now been distributed to all who have paid subs for the year, so if you have not received yours, your subs are due, so please renew without delay. New members are always made very welcome at this top club.
What club offers more than the Gold Cup for Best in Show at the young stock show and lately also £100 plus a gold medal to the winner of the Gold Shield.
Best of luck for 2019.It could be you!

Phil Shaw
